Dr. Jia-Rui Wu, Vice President of Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Editor of Mol Cell.
Regulation of Cell Cycle and Apoptosis.
Dr. Jia-Rui Wu was awarded a doctor degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich in 1994. Then He was a postdoctoral fellow in Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, S.U.N.Y. Health Science Center in Syracuse, USA from 1994-1997. As a postdoctoral fellow in the US, Dr. Wu found that a control point on initiation of DNA replication exists in the G1 phase of mammalian cells, which was called origin decision point (ODP) (Science 1996, 271,1270). The finding of ODP first time connects the cell cycle control with the regulating initiation of DNA replication. Since 1997, he become a principle investigator in Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now Dr. Wu are working mainly on two research areas: (1) Cell cycle control and DNA replication. (2) The relationship between the cell cycle and apoptosis regulation.
